Khalid K. Alam, Ph.D. is a biochemist, synthetic biologist, inventor, and entrepreneur. In 2017, he cofounded ChiTownBio, a 501(c)(3) that launched Chicago’s first public biotechnology lab. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University’s Center for Synthetic Biology, he invented the ROSALIND™ biosensor platform, then founded Stemloop, Inc. (2019–2025) to commercialize it. Khalid is active in the life sciences industry as an executive, advisor, and consultant to emerging companies, and recently founded Al-kimi — a venture lab based in Saint Louis, Missouri.
